Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching & Learning:
    • Deliver lectures, practical sessions, and tutorials on topics including networking fundamentals, network protocols, Cisco routers and switches, IP addressing, network security, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting.
    • Prepare and update course content, including syllabi, assignments, exams, and lab exercises.
    • Lead hands-on practical sessions using Cisco equipment and network simulation tools (e.g., Packet Tracer, GNS3).
    • Assess student performance through quizzes, exams, assignments, and practical labs.
    • Provide support for students through office hours, online forums, and additional learning resources.
  2. Curriculum Development:
    • Contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of the Computer Networks curriculum, ensuring it is up to date with current industry standards and Cisco certifications.
    • Integrate real-world networking scenarios and case studies into coursework.
    • Ensure that students are prepared for Cisco certification exams such as CCNA and CCNP.
  3. Research & Professional Development:
    • Conduct research in computer networking, with a focus on Cisco technologies, network security, and emerging networking trends (e.g., SDN, IoT, 5G).
    • Stay current with Cisco and industry trends, certifications, and technologies.
    • Participate in professional development activities to maintain technical expertise and improve teaching methods.
  4. Student Engagement and Mentorship:
    • Advise and mentor students on academic progress, career development, and Cisco certification preparation.
    • Support student involvement in extracurricular activities, such as networking clubs, hackathons, and industry partnerships.
    • Assist students with projects, particularly those that require practical network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Participate in departmental meetings, academic committees, and other administrative activities.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
    • Contribute to accreditation processes and ensure compliance with institutional and industry standards.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Collaborate with industry partners, including Cisco and other networking organizations, to bring external expertise, networking equipment, and internship opportunities to students.
    • Assist with organizing events such as workshops, guest lectures, and networking labs.

  • Successful completion rates and student satisfaction in networking courses.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred for a senior or research-focused role).
    • Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are essential; advanced certifications such as CCIE or Cisco Wireless and Security certifications are highly desirable.
    • Formal teaching qualifications (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education or equivalent) are preferred.

Experience:

  • Teaching Experience:

  • Industry Experience:
