Job Description:

Job Purpose

  •  Lead the overall operations, maintenance, and site administration of the hydropower plant. 
  •  Ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations. 
  •  Maximize plant availability and minimize generation loss. 
  •  Lead Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Operations teams. 
  •  Manage manpower, maintenance planning, and stakeholder coordination.

Plant Operations

  •  Lead the Operations & Maintenance team. 
  •  Develop and implement SOPs for Headworks and Powerhouse operations. 
  •  Monitor daily plant operations to ensure continuous power generation. 
  •  Analyze generation performance and improve water-to-wire efficiency. 
  •  Troubleshoot operational issues to minimize forced outages and generation loss. 

Maintenance Management

  •  Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs. 
  •  Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment issues. 
  •  Ensure proper maintenance of turbines, governors, cooling systems, valves, generators, transformers, and control systems. 
  •  Schedule maintenance activities to improve plant reliability and uptime. 

Infrastructure Management

  •  Manage Headworks facilities, including intake structures, settling basins, flushing gates, and trash rack systems. 
  •  Oversee Powerhouse electro-mechanical equipment and switchyard operations. 
  •  Supervise generator synchronization, protection relays, transmission lines, and SCADA systems. 
  •  Ensure structural safety and efficient sediment management. 

Team Leadership & Site Administration

  •  Manage engineers, operators, technicians, and local workforce. 
  •  Plan manpower and shift schedules for 24/7 plant operations. 
  •  Supervise breakdown response and overhaul activities. 
  •  Mentor technical teams and promote continuous skill development. 
  •  Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and emergency procedures. 

Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination

  •  Maintain positive relationships with local communities. 
  •  Address community concerns and operational issues effectively. 
  •  Coordinate with municipal authorities, local administration, security agencies, and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). 
  •  Support smooth project operations through effective stakeholder communication.


Specification:

Educational Qualification

  •  Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university. 
  •  Advanced degree or certification in Hydropower Operations will be an added advantage. 

Experience

  •  Minimum 8+ years of experience in the hydropower sector. 
  •  At least 3–5 years in an Operations Leadership or Site Incharge role. 
  •  Experience in operational hydropower plants of 20 MW or above preferred. 

Technical Knowledge

  •  Strong knowledge of hydropower mechanical systems, including: 
    •  Turbines 
    •  Governors 
    •  Lubrication systems 
    •  Hydraulic gates 
    •  High-pressure valves 
    •  Equipment alignment 
  •  Good understanding of: 
    •  Plant protection systems 
    •  Generator synchronization 
    •  Switchyard operations 
    •  Grid compliance 
    •  SCADA systems 
  •  Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance. 
  •  Ability to lead multidisciplinary Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Operations teams.
